Walking tour about natural water sources with guide Jolanta

Did you know that Oudenberg Hill is interspersed with numerous groundwater layers that naturally create water sources in the upper city?

These water sources with drinkable water were already channelled in the Middle Ages into a water supply network with fountains and water wells. During this walk, we hear some facts and stories about how these water sources were creatively used by the inhabitants of Geraardsbergen. We start the tour by climbing via Vesten to the top of the Oudenberg, next to the iconic ‘Muur’. From the Oudenberg you descend back down with a stop at St. Adrian Abbey, where in the past even real water doctors used the healing power of water to heal the sick. The walk ends at the Market square of Geraardsbergen where it is further passionately told about the Marbol Fountain and statue of Manneken Pis.

Please keep in mind that this walking tour is steady and is not recommended for people with disabilities.

The rate is 70 euros and needs to be paid in cash on the day itself.
